Being a Teenager in todays Society!
Does reality T.V shows, such as "16 and Pregnant" and "Teen Mom," have a positive affect on teenage pregnancy? My Grandmother, my Mom, and many of my fellow friends were and are teenage mothers. Obviously, there were not reality T.V shows on teenage mothers back then; however, in 2009 "16 and Pregnant" aired. This showed America what it's like to be a 16 year-old and pregnant. Briefly after, a show named "Teen Mom" aired showing the life of a teenage mother. Even though the teenagers on both shows had a troubles being teenage parents, they were paid to tell their story. They received enough to take care of themselves and their child; however, when a handful of them were chosen to star on Teen Mom it was a different story. Receiving $60,000 to $65,000 per season, it gives teenager-not pregnant and/or pregnant-a quick way to receive a decent amount of money. In addition, many teenagers believe that having a child does not ruin your teenage year since some Teen Moms have boyfriends, other than their baby daddy, and party on the weekends. Having primary research stating teenagers do not mind becoming pregnant, because they have the chance of starring in 16 and pregnant, which leads to the show with big bucks, Teen Mom, I am curious to know if these shows give teenagers the impression that teenage pregnancy is a good thing.
